With a cocktail-heavy menu and a clientele to match, it should come as no surprise that entry is via doorbell only, asserting a kind of self-selecting crowd that understands Reichenbach is more than “just” a bar. The former location of K&K Klub, the owners decided that it was time for a change and polished up the interior with a sleek, deco-oriented ambience to set the tone for an exquisite cocktail experience. Certainly those little silver cups don’t lie: each is available for €10,000, guaranteeing you an endless year’s supply of gin for however many hangovers you can try to justify the price with.

Munich’s sprawling Viktualienmarkt is a colourful market peddling a wide range of wares, from horse meat to garden furniture. The bustling area doubles as the front yard of the Louis Hotel, whose guests would be hard pushed to find a more lively location.

A boutique property of only 72 rooms, the Louis exudes a quiet sophistication created by colours and furnishings whose subtlety nonetheless speak volumes.
